BOOK UPDATE #3 - GARDEN PALACE (spoiler alert)

At the bottom of a very large pit lies a fairly sizable hole in the wall.

One of the construction workers has returned to the excavation site before sunrise.

He climbs down to the bottom of the pit and inspects the hole in the wall.

He had accidentally been the cause of the hole the day before and intended to plug it up before anyone would notice.

Only one other person was aware of the hole, his Foreman Terry, and he helped him cover it over temporarily with a large rock so no one would notice.

When he gets there he finds the rock has fallen inside of the hole in what appears to be a hollowed cave.

He reaches in for the rock to pull it out and use again but as he does he is attacked by something inside the cave.

He flings himself back in fright and the creature inside grabs the large rock then pushes it into the opening of the cave, sealing itself in.

The Foreman then arrives and sees the hole still plugged up. He tries to remove the rock but it wont budge.

He curses again and again as he hacks at the opening but it holds firm.

He then interrogates the worker and blames him for the cave being sealed.

The worker doesn't understand why he is so annoyed.

The Foreman doesn't explain to him that the cave was part of the original foundations of the old Garden Palace.

The worker defensively claims that there was a creature inside but the Foreman wont hear a bar of it.

But then it dawns on him, as he recalls the events of the previous evening, that it just might be so.

The creature could be the prey that slipped through his net in the neighbouring parkland only a few hours ago.

The creature could be...

... the boy.
