GARDEN PALACE BOOK UPDATE #8

This wonderful angle of Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre inspires my imagination when I am writing, about the fictional Palace Theatre in the book Garden Palace.

The splendor of Her Majesty's is exactly what I would expect to see in a rebuilt, better-than-the-original version of the once majestic Garden Palace.

Obviously this means I am still stuck in Chapter 3 - The Palace Theatre.

I had been quite hopeful and had every intention of this blog being about completing the chapter but alas i am still around three pages out from revising the draft.

I don't want to rush for the sake of completing it as I am really enjoying beefing out the characters we introduced in the original version.

Maggie Jones is our octogenarian Ambassador who had been working at the new Garden Palace before it even opened its doors. We have fleshed out a deeper history of Maggie and her involvement with the Palace over the years and how the bulding keeps the memory of her departed husband alive.

Dimitri Matsoukis steps in as a trainee manager and has the opportunity to run the Palace Theatre for the first time during this mid afternoon Preview that fills the current chapter. His dry sense of humour is a winner with Max and his friends.

Quaarralia's lack of interest and understanding grows throughout the chapter and Annabella's role within the tour operations strengthens and illustrates her ability to push through to a solution when things go horribly wrong.

We also see the emergence of diminutive Chinese Ambassador Winnie Chang, who's grasp of English is only dwarfed by her lack of understanding.

As fun as it is to grow the characters, it is very exciting to set up the running of a theatre exactly how you would like to see it being done including ticket scanners and entry and exit points.

We also get our first live performance in the building since discovering its long history.

I know that when next i write Chapter three will be finished and Chapter 4 will be getting fleshed out.

But until then, that is our Garden Palace wrap-up for this week
